Island Summer

A Stay and Play Program for young children and their caregivers.

Our Island Preschool is in the licensing process, so we can't open fully as a drop off program, but we are ready for play. I am Maria Chew, owner and director. When my sons were young and not yet eligible for preschool, we attended a "Tiny Tots" program which required an adult present. I loved getting to attend with them and watch how they explored the school like environment. I also really appreciated interacting with the teachers and other parents. Having young children can be very isolating, and it was wonderful to interact with other adults.

Island Summer seeks to create the same vibe. A safe, preschool like environment. The children get to explore and play, while adults support them and have the opportunity to check in with other adults.

Island Summer is for children two and a half to five. It's a great step for children who are entering preschool or TK in the fall. We are also a wonderful opportunity for busy families who aren't able to fit in a full summer camp.

The details:

• Monday through Friday, nine to noon, at Our Island Preschool, 1910 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda.

• Free preview mornings are June 29 & 30.

• Paid sessions run from JJuly 1 - July31. Twenty dollars per morning. Cash, check, or Venmo.

• When you register, we will send a short waiver to sign before your first visit. A parent or legal guardian signs it. If a different caregiver brings your child, that adult signs in person at the door.
